FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

in 8th Grade

QUESTION:  “How many 8th grade bands are there?”

ANSWER:  8th grade band is divided into two bands: A-Day Band and B-Day Band. Percussion 8 is a separate class, but they will perform with both groups.

QUESTION:  “Are there practices after school?”

ANSWER:  8th grade band does require after school practices in February and March, to prepare for Assessment. 

​

QUESTION:  “Is band a full block now?"

ANSWER:  Band class is now a full block! Woodwinds/Brass meet together as an ensemble and learn how to perform as one.

Percussion meet separately and join the winds during after school rehearsals.  

​

QUESTION:  “How do we get an instrument?”

ANSWER:  Willard has larger instruments to rent, such as Bass Clarinet, Tenor & Baritone Sax, F Horn, Euphonium/Baritone, and Tuba. All other instruments will need to be rented locally from one of our many music retailers. If your family qualifies for Free and Reduced Meals and you need help finding an affordable instrument, we can help!  Check our supply lists for info.

 

QUESTION: “What trips are involved?”

ANSWER:  8th graders perform at Concert Assessment and we travel on a spring trip in May/June! Other trips may be added as they are discovered!
